At talks between Volodymyr Zelensky and Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade on 8 August, the sides signed a memorandum on animal health and food safety. N1 reports that the presidents also discussed European integration and economic cooperation, while Zelensky said free-trade-agreement talks were advancing.
In a morning report on 9 August, N1 says the Deliblatska Sands fire has affected about 1,500 hectares of forest and low vegetation. Conditions in Šumarak are calmer: part of the fire was extinguished overnight, it did not enter homes, and 50-metre firebreaks are being made in Dubovac. This is later information alongside the Interior Ministry’s 8 August briefing on four major fires.
Kragujevac uses about 55 million litres of drinking water a day in summer, but the local utility and city authorities do not plan restrictions, N1 reports. The Gruža reservoir is about 42% full and Grošnica Lake 80% full; upgraded wells on the Morava provide 100–150 litres per second.
For 9 August, BVK lists outage locations until 15:00 in Savski Venac, Palilula, Voždovac, Čukarica, New Belgrade, Zemun, Grocka and Barajevo. Separately, Svete Milutinovića 40 in Železnik is without water until 22:00, and the page lists ten tanker locations.
A protest photo exhibition opened outside Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Gymnasium in Novi Sad on the evening of 8 August. Danas reports that teachers, current and former students, residents and cyclists attended; the event continues public discussion around the school, where a principal’s recruitment process remains open.
Serbia’s government has sent parliament three draft loan laws for construction of the Belgrade–Zrenjanin–Novi Sad motorway. According to 021, the dinar loans involve UniCredit Bank Srbija, Banca Intesa and NLB Komercijalna banka; the 2026 borrowing ceiling for the project is 35 billion dinars.
The Danube level near Novi Sad has fallen enough to expose long-hidden parts of Petrovaradin Fortress, N1 reports. Because of shallow water, fuel and grain barges are travelling with reduced loads or cannot pass, shifting some transport to more expensive trucks and rail.
