Danas reports that activist Bojan Simišić was held at the border after a work trip and gave a statement as a citizen to the Criminal Police Administration’s counter-terrorism service before being released. It carries Eko straža’s statement that the inquiry concerns claims of a possible sonic-weapon simulation at the 15 March 2025 protest.
The Niš Court of Appeal upheld the Higher Court in Negotin and finally ended proceedings against Radoslav Dragijević. N1 relays a Nova.rs report quoting the court spokesperson: the prosecution’s appeal was dismissed because the courts found insufficient evidence for charges of failing to report a crime and assisting after its commission.
Residents of Niš’s Pantelej district are continuing protests and a petition against the current rail-bypass route. Organisers want a safety study on freight trains passing through the neighbourhood and freight traffic moved outside it; a meeting with representatives of a European bank is scheduled for 4 August.
021 republished a Danas report based on unofficial police information: since 1 July, two hand grenades, a mortar shell and an aerial bomb have been found along the Petrovaradin bank near the fortress and Kamenički Park. The aerial bomb was neutralised; if you find a suspicious object along the low Danube, report it to police and wait for a patrol rather than handling it yourself.
Police found 5,880 offences on the first day of heightened checks, which run until 2 August: 3,544 for speeding, 519 for not wearing seat belts, and 176 for drink-driving. An international ROADPOL operation follows from 3 to 9 August.
