Prosecutors: Vladimir Cvijan’s death case was archived in 2018

Belgrade’s Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office said lawyer Vladimir Cvijan died by drowning and that no evidence of a crime was found; the case was archived in 2018. This is the office’s response to public murder claims, not a new court ruling.

OFAC extends NIS’s operating licence to 28 August

OFAC extended NIS’s operating licence, MOL’s licence for talks with Gazprom Neft, and JANAF’s licence to transport oil for NIS until 28 August. This allows the company to keep operating, obtain crude oil and refine it in Pančevo, while the ownership issue remains unresolved.

Education-law draft: N1 reports sanctions for suspending classes

N1 reports that a draft law would revoke the licence of a teacher who does not resume classes after a principal’s warning, and would reduce parent and student representation. The ministry and representative unions did not comment to N1.

ODIHR recommends a full election-observation mission for Serbia

OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights recommended a full mission to observe the whole electoral process, from campaigning through counting and results. The election date has not yet been set.

REM Council again fails to elect a chair

On July 30, the REM Council voted twice for a chair but did not reach the required majority: Miloš Garić received four votes and Dubravka Valić Nedeljković three. The next meeting is planned for the second half of August; until then, the Council will continue working without an elected chair.
