The first day of July brings a sharp weather shift: after June records and 41 C in Kikinda and Palic, RHMZ warns of showers, thunderstorms, possible hail, and strong or storm-force wind on July 1-2. Later, N1 specified a Belgrade and next-two-hours alert, while meteorologist Goran Mihajlovic told RTS/Danas that short 30-60 minute storms should be followed by 7-10 days of more comfortable temperatures up to 32-33 C.
N1 wrote on the evening of July 1 that a chromic-sulfuric acid spill in the autopsy room of the Mother and Child Institute in New Belgrade had been remediated, and on-site measurements did not show elevated levels of hazardous substances. A nurse who tried to clean up the spill went for a preventive examination; emergency medical staff were on site.
Because of planned works on the water network, consumers in several Zvezdara streets are without water on July 1 from 8:00 to 22:00, including parts of Dimitrija Tucovica, Presevska, and Milana Rakica from Batutova to Cingrijina, plus Cingrijina, Brsjacka, Bukureska, Gersiceva, Cara Jovana Crnog, Hektoroviceva, Spase Garde, Divcibarska, and Aradska. Water tankers are announced for drinking-water needs.
The City of Belgrade and Danas report that, because newly laid water pipelines are being put into service, consumers in Skerliceva Street in Vracar will be without water on July 2, as will New Belgrade consumers in Vinogradska, Vojvodjanska from 98 to 152, and Surcinski put from 3 to 7. Reduced pressure is expected in Ledine and blocks 45, 61, 62, 71, and 72, with possible outages on higher floors; water tankers are announced for drinking water.
The Republic Statistical Office said Serbia's estimated population in 2025 was 6,549,901. According to figures carried by N1, from 2016 to 2025 the population fell by 434,948 people on natural change alone; in 2025 there were 59,483 live births and 95,247 deaths.
On June 30, RHMZ and national media warned of June's last extremely hot day: Serbia was expected to see 36-40 C, Belgrade around 38 C, and the long dry spell raised outdoor fire risk. By evening RHMZ separately warned of showers and thunderstorms, especially in parts of Banat, Srem, central Serbia, and Belgrade; on Wednesday and Thursday local severe weather with hail, storm wind, and heavy short-duration rain is possible.
