Fifth Belgrade Gymnasium students describe 18 months of crisis

Danas reports that Prijatelji dece Srbije, at the initiative of the parents' council, conducted research after 18 months of crisis at the Fifth Belgrade Gymnasium. Focus groups included 26 students from 15 classes and all four grades, with 23 participants completing an additional questionnaire; 78.3% said the situation has a very or extremely negative effect on learning motivation, while 91.3% said they do not receive timely information about class organization.

Schools receive instructions for student visits to EXPO 2027

The Education Ministry sent primary and secondary schools professional guidance for study visits to EXPO 2027 in Belgrade. According to N1/Beta and Kurir, the visits are planned for May 17-June 25, 2027, are not mandatory, require parent or legal-guardian consent, and transport and tickets are promised free for all pupils.

First tuition refund for self-financing students scheduled for July 15

021, citing Danas, writes that self-financing students should receive the first part of the 2025/26 tuition refund on July 15. The Education Ministry budget will cover 50% of the first installment, while 50% of the second installment is expected in October; students need a student card to withdraw the money.

On July 1, UB faculties were still waiting for the state-funded quota decision

N1 wrote on July 1, citing the UB Rectorate, that after entrance exams ended University of Belgrade faculties still did not have the government's decision on how many students may study on the state budget. Faculties mostly relied on last year's quotas in their admissions calls because the decision was supposed to be made before the calls were published but was delayed; on July 2, N1 separately reported that the UB Senate adopted amendments to decisions and a supplement to its opinion on the number of state-funded students, but that article does not confirm publication of the government decision.

RZS estimates Serbia's 2025 population at 6.55 million

The Republic Statistical Office said Serbia's estimated population in 2025 was 6,549,901. According to figures carried by N1, from 2016 to 2025 the population fell by 434,948 people on natural change alone; in 2025 there were 59,483 live births and 95,247 deaths.

Danas: Government expected to adopt university state-funded quotas on July 2

Danas reports that Serbia's government is expected to adopt state-funded enrollment quotas for public higher-education institutions at its Thursday, July 2 session. According to the paper's sources, faculty-proposed quotas will not change, but the decision is unusually late: it is normally adopted in May, while this year's first enrollment round began without an official number of state-funded places.
