On June 25, the government formed a negotiating team to include Serbia in the EU's 'Roam Like at Home' regime. If negotiations with the European Commission lead to an agreement and rule alignment, residents and businesses could use mobile services more cheaply while staying in EU countries.
On June 25, the Belgrade City Assembly adopted its second 2026 budget rebalance: the new budget amount is set at RSD 202,155,731,190, with 59 councilors voting in favor and the opposition not voting. The same session adopted several detailed regulation plans, including Mirijevo and the disputed plan for the Bajdina forest area in Zvezdara; Danas reports that residents from the "Mirijevo - zeleno i zdravo" initiative came to the session against the plan, and opposition councilors shielded activists after security moved in at the speaker's podium.
According to Bankwatch data carried by 021, coal-fired power plants in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and North Macedonia emitted 6.6 times more pollution than permitted in 2025. Serbia ranked second for SO2: 177,756 tonnes, or 5.1 times the allowed amount. The report also says regional dust pollution was 2.9 times above the limit and identifies TENT B as Serbia's largest NOx source at 11,247 tonnes; since January 2026, the CBAM mechanism has increased the cost of electricity exports to the EU.
021 reports that the US Treasury's OFAC extended NIS's operating license and MOL's license for talks on buying the Russian stake until July 1; the previous licenses were valid until June 16. In the same article, economist Jeffrey Sachs tells RTS that US sanctions against NIS are illegal and unilateral, arguing that the US should not dictate Serbia's cooperation terms with Russia.
On June 22, CINS published an investigation into where money is going on the EXPO 2027 complex, national stadium, and infrastructure in Surcin: reporters say they could not obtain a full official list, but confirmed more than 200 firms through documents, interviews, and databases. Examples include Makis beton, where CINS links 70% of last year's 2.1 billion dinars in inflows to EXPO, PZP Valjevo, NM Kop, C&LC Kameni agregati, CAP 1 ALCZ, and Betonjerka Cacak.
On June 21, Aleksandar Vucic visited the new Unified Dispatch Center in Belgrade and demanded that trains in Serbia become more punctual than German and Swiss trains, with Transport Minister Aleksandra Sofronijevic replacing directors if delays become routine. According to N1 and Danas, the center's 23 staff now monitor and control 540 km of railway, the Belgrade-Subotica line should enter the system in six to seven months, and an urgent working group is promised for the 210 km Valjevo-Vrbnica section and the line from Kosjeric to the Montenegrin border.
