What it is
This is a dispute over how preparations for EXPO 2027 affect Belgrade's public student-dormitory system. It is not about all of Studentski grad, but about the second block of Dom 2's F wing: according to a notice reported on June 24, 2026, that wing must be vacated for the specialized exhibition.
What the notice says
According to N1, Danas, and 021, the Studentski centar "Beograd" document was drawn up on June 23, 2026 and posted at Studentski centar in Djusina Street. It says Studentski grad, Dom 2, F wing is allocated to the Expo 2027 Belgrade specialized international exhibition from May 1 to August 30, 2027. Residents of all rooms in that block must vacate their places by April 16, 2027, while relocation to other rooms and dormitories is described as possible "subject to the capacity" of the institution.
The institution's promise and students' objection
After the reports, Studentski centar told N1 this is not eviction but temporary relocation of some students from the F wing; temporarily relocated students are promised housing within Studentski centar Beograd capacity under the same conditions. On June 26, N1 published residents' reactions: Nadja Petrovic and Maja say the phrase "subject to capacity" is not a clear guarantee, because dormitories are already under pressure, students wait months for places or transfers, and the move could coincide with colloquiums and exams.
Confirmed and open
Confirmed: public reports give a deadline to vacate places - April 16, 2027; the period when the F wing is allocated to EXPO - May 1 to August 30, 2027; Studentski centar's position that this is temporary relocation; and students' demand for a written guarantee. Open questions include exactly how many students and rooms are affected, which dorms and rooms will be offered instead, whether roommates and the dorm category will be preserved, whether there will be a separate written act with binding guarantees, and how the move will fit academic deadlines.
Why it matters
For students this is about predictable housing, cost, and the academic calendar, not only Belgrade's participation in a major exhibition. For residents and taxpayers, it shows how EXPO is moving beyond the Surcin construction site and into the capacity of public institutions: dormitories, schools, and other services. If the wording remains vague, affected people cannot plan where they will live, what it will cost, and who is responsible for the consequences.
Next deadline
The nearest firm date is April 16, 2027: residents of the affected block must vacate places by then unless the decision changes. The next open decision is whether Studentski centar "Beograd" will give a separate written guarantee of relocation under the same conditions before students have to plan housing for the 2026/2027 academic year and the spring exam period.
