VJT orders a check of threats to Veselin Milic in Belgrade district jail

After a filing from Veselin Milic's defense lawyer, prosecutors ordered the Second Basic Prosecutor's Office to identify unknown persons who allegedly threatened him in Belgrade district jail. The prison administration told N1/Danas it strictly follows safety procedures for all detainees, while Danas recalls that on June 12 the court extended Milic's custody until July 12 in the failure-to-report-a-crime-and-perpetrator branch.

Higher Prosecutor's Office checks claims of a planned March 15 'sound cannon' simulation

The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade asked police to gather information after finding a student working-group document about a January 22, 2025 meeting. Prosecutors are checking whether a simulation of "sound cannon" use at the March 15 protest was discussed then; N1 frames it as a procedural check, while Kurir presents the statement as support for the version that the affair was staged.

K.K.'s parents receive prison sentences in the repeated Ribnikar trial

On June 18, the Higher Court in Belgrade sentenced Vladimir Kecmanovic to 14 years and 6 months and Miljana Kecmanovic to 2 years and 11 months in prison in the repeated trial. The first-instance verdict can be appealed before the Court of Appeal.

High Prosecutorial Council assigns three prosecutors to TOK for three years

On June 18, the High Prosecutorial Council decided to assign Irena Bjelos, Aleksandar Barac, and Boris Majlat to the Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office for three years. That addresses part of the issue singled out by the Venice Commission in its follow-up opinion on the Mrdic laws: not all prosecutors had been returned to TOK.

On June 18, Novosti reports that Sasa Vukovic Boske spent two days giving his defense at the Higher Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade over suspicions in the killing of Aleksandar Nesovic Baja at restaurant "27" in Senjak. Parliament takes up amendments to the so-called Mrdic laws
