The school year for primary schools starts on 1 September. In central Serbia, the first term runs until 30 December and in Vojvodina until 23 December; the second term starts on 18 January and 11 January respectively.
Niš police said they arrested A.S. (22) from the area around Inđija on suspicion that she passed a prisoner at Niš prison 760 psychoactive-substance tablets, about 24 grams of a substance suspected to be amphetamine and about 7 grams of a mixture. After up to 48 hours in custody, a judge ordered up to 30 days of detention.
Danas reports that US actor Woody Harrelson received the Sarajevo Film Festival award for his contribution to cinema and his career. The ceremony was followed by a screening of Welcome to Sarajevo.

BVK says that on 19 August, selected addresses in Stari Grad, Savski Venac, Vračar, Palilula, Zvezdara, Voždovac, Čukarica, Rakovica, Zemun and other areas are without water until 15:00. Two Zvezdara and Rakovica addresses are listed until 20:00, with tanker locations provided.
