What it is
TAG is the device for electronic payment on Serbia's tolled roads. Toll4All is a separate web platform where a TAG is registered and linked to a card for payment on the barrier-free (MLFF) section of the Belgrade bypass. MLFF means passage without a conventional barrier or toll booth.
Why it became important
Putevi Srbije says the obligation to use a TAG for category IV freight vehicles took effect on January 1, 2026, under Article 198(13) of the Law on Fees for the Use of Public Goods. The operator deferred full enforcement for a transition period; the penalty regime began on July 1.
Current status
As of July 10, 2026, owners and users of category IV vehicles must pay tolls electronically through a TAG. According to Putevi Srbije's May 27 notice, the statutory ranges are RSD 500,000-2,000,000 for a legal entity, 10,000-100,000 for a responsible person, 10,000-500,000 for an entrepreneur, and 5,000-50,000 for an individual. For the MLFF section of the Belgrade bypass, Putevi Srbije identifies a TAG registered on Toll4All as the regular payment method for that route segment.
Why it matters to a carrier
An ordinary prepaid or postpaid TAG and a Toll4All-registered TAG are not equivalent on that segment. Putevi Srbije says that if a category IV vehicle uses the Belgrade bypass with a prepaid or postpaid TAG that is not registered on Toll4All, the operator will issue an invoice for subsequent toll collection with additional procedural costs. That invoice should not be confused with a penalty for breaching the electronic-payment obligation.
What to check before a trip
Before a trip, confirm the category of the specific tractor-and-trailer combination, the status of that exact TAG and the route. If the route uses the MLFF part of the Belgrade bypass, ask the operator whether the device registration on Toll4All is complete and how the toll will be charged; the Putevi Srbije site lists its customer centre as 0800 111 004.
