N1 reports that RHMZ warned all of Serbia about very high temperatures, with orange or yellow alerts in force across much of the country on June 26. The forecast calls for a sunny, clear day with a very high UV index and highs up to 37 °C. Because heat and dry weather raise the outdoor fire risk, RHMZ reminds people not to light fires or throw away unextinguished cigarette butts. Doctors and meteorologists advise avoiding direct sun from 11:00 to 17:00, wearing a hat, and carrying water.

Danas writes that Serbia's heatwave is expected to last until July 2: highs are forecast up to 36 °C on June 26 and up to 39 °C in the following days. Meteorologist Nedeljko Todorovic says this June is warm but, on average, less hot than last June, which RHMZ assessed as Serbia's hottest and driest on record: the mean temperature was 3.2 °C above the 1990-2020 norm, and on June 26 last year daily-maximum records were exceeded at eight stations, including 40.7 °C in Cuprija and 38.1 °C in Belgrade.

Danas relays recommendations from Belgrade's City Institute for Public Health: a heatwave is a period of at least three consecutive days with temperatures of at least 32 °C, often with high humidity and little air movement. Risk groups include small children, older people, pregnant women, people with excess weight, chronic heart, vascular, respiratory, and diabetes conditions, and those exercising or working outdoors or in poorly cooled spaces. The institute lists risks including dehydration, thrombosis, heart attack and stroke, worsening asthma and COPD, sunburn, and skin and kidney damage; high body temperature, heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, headache, and rapid pulse are described as heatstroke signs requiring urgent medical help.
