What it is
Roadworks in Novi Sad can change traffic only on a defined section: they may close a street, take one lane, or occupy a sidewalk or cycle path. A district-heating notice normally names the street, the limits of the work zone, and a planned deadline; it does not mean that an entire neighbourhood or the city is closed.
Why the notices are easy to confuse
Three official Novosadska toplana notices, published on July 17, describe separate work phases from July 20. At the same time, 021 runs a rolling traffic roundup that places crashes, congestion, patrols, and other same-day reports alongside roadworks. The roundup is updated throughout the day, so a one-off incident should not be read as a lasting closure.
Current status
According to Novosadska toplana notices, as of July 20 the section of Đorđa Servickog Street from Bulevar cara Lazara to Miše Dimitrijevića Street is closed; part of the sidewalk and cycle path by Bulevar cara Lazara is also occupied, with all phases planned to finish on September 22. On Bulevar cara Lazara, one carriageway lane is closed on the section from Krilova Street to Alekse Šantića Street, and two-way traffic uses the other lane; this phase is planned through August 3. At 24 Ilije Ognjanovića Street, opposite Hotel Putnik, a section is closed for reconstruction of a district-heating connection through August 31.
Why it matters
For drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, the street name alone is not enough: the work-zone limits and type of restriction matter. A closed lane, an occupied sidewalk, and a fully closed section call for different routes. The listed dates are planned deadlines; the actual reopening or next phase may be announced separately.
What to check before travelling
Before setting out, check Novosadska toplana's latest news and notices by street name; they give the primary description of the works and the planned deadline. Then open 021's current traffic roundup if you need to know about crashes or other short-term disruptions that day. Watch for notices of an extension, completion, or a new phase on one of these sections.
